Whenever we are in Vancouver, BC (which is never often enough, considering the relative ease of such a short drive), our friends Linh and Stewart take us to some of their favorite places. In the past, we have enjoyed crazy good izakaya at Guu on Robson Street, but on a recent trip we stayed closer in and went to amazing Pizzeria Farina in the Strathcona neighborhood.
Pizzeria Farina is tiny, with maybe fifteen high stools on communal-style counters. While you wait for your pies, you can soak up the candlelight and enjoy the stone walls filled with hanging bicycles or rows of olive oil in little bottles -- very reminiscent of a favorite Italian shop in New York, Torrisi.
We had two pies, so we could each try a gigantic, foldable slice of Funghi and Margherita -- delicious. Linh and Stewart own a boutique that sells eco-friendly cleaning supplies and provides bulk refills, The Soap Dispensary which is also a must-see in Vancouver.
